Improving Density Estimation by Incorporating Spatial Information
Given discrete event data, we wish to produce a probability density that can model the relative probability of events occurring in a spatial region. Common methods of density estimation, such as Kernel Density Estimation, do not incorporate geographical information. Using these methods could result in nonnegligible portions of the support of the density in unrealistic geographic locations. For ...
متن کاملAnalysis of the Spatial Distribution of Galaxies by Multiscale Methods
Galaxies are arranged in interconnected walls and filaments forming a cosmic web encompassing huge, nearly empty, regions between the structures. Many statistical methods have been proposed in the past in order to describe the galaxy distribution and discriminate the different cosmological models. We present in this paper results relative to the use of new statistical tools using the 3D isotrop...
متن کاملLearning 3D Geological Structure from Drill-Rig Sensors for Automated Mining
This paper addresses one of the key components of the mining process: the geological prediction of natural resources from spatially distributed measurements. We present a novel approach combining undirected graphical models with ensemble classifiers to provide 3D geological models from multiple sensors installed in an autonomous drill rig. Drill sensor measurements used for drilling automation,...
متن کاملAutomated Drill Design Software
This section of the report discusses a tool which can create automated 3D CAD drill models based on geometric as well as manufacturing parameters. This tool is a required component of numerical/FEmodels of FRP drilling. The tool outputs the drill in a variety of solid geometry formats which can then be meshed and used in different FE analysis packages.
